With Easter just around the corner every store is filled with candy of every kind. Sugar can often leave us feeling bloated, tired, and not like ourselves. In excess, it can do a lot more harm to our body than that. However, there still seem to be times when our body is craving something sweet. Here are some tips for beating out that sugar craving.

  1. Open up a bottle of Mother Beverage. The natural sweetness with the mother in ACV can help curb that sweet tooth and leave you feeling energized and hydrated. Lime Ginger is a great choice!
  2. Grab some fruit. Fruit is a great way to asses if we've been eating too much sugar. Fruit should taste sweet but often wont after too much sugar.
  3. Don't let yourself get too hungry! We've all been there before. It's hard to not reach for something sugary when our body is starving and craving quick energy. Instead, reach for something with protein to hold you over until your next meal. Hard boiled eggs, beef jerky, or a protein shake are all quick options.
  4. Indulge but don't over indulge. If you're still looking to satisfy your sweet tooth, have some! There are plenty of healthy sweet options in stores these days and things you can make at home. The trick is to not have too much.

Here is one of our favorite recipes to satisfy that sweet tooth. Give them a try and let us know how you like them! 

Ingredients: (These are naturally gluten free. Can be vegan and dairy free with using plant based protein and enjoy life chocolate chips)

  • 1 cup of salted peanuts (if using unsalted just add a pinch of salt)
  • 1 cup of pitted dates
  • 1 scoop of your favorite chocolate protein powder
  • 1/2 TBS of natural peanut or almond butter
  • Optional: 1/2 or 3/4 cup of your favorite chocolate chips. We use semi-sweet!

Toss all ingredients into a food processor and blend until everything is finely chopped and combined. If the dough still looks a little dry you can add a water starting with 1 tsp and adding more from there. Use a tablespoon scoop and press dough in to spoon to form a ball. Set formed balls onto cookie sheet or in mini muffin tins. Refrigerate for 30 minutes then put them in a ziploc bag to keep them fresh for a week. Makes 24 balls. 10 c 4 f 3 p (this will vary a little based on what protein powder you use and if you use chocolate chips. Enjoy!
